A View Back on Harvest 2014 February 12 2015

2014 has proved to be another excellent year for California winegrowing. The young wines are showing all the beautiful aromas and flavors that were promised in the vineyard. I’m super excited to see how the wines develop over the next year.

While we all have a bit of time to wait before the 2014 vintage is ready to share, it is well past time for us to share some pictures of the 2014 harvest.

Welcome to Post & Vine! June 28 2014

Erica and I are really excited to finally be releasing our first vintage of Post & Vine! We are incredibly proud of the 2012 Post & Vine Old Vine Field Blend. When I pour it into the glass first I marvel at the color, a rich deep purple red. The aromas are enticing, full of strawberry, cherry, red earth, and Christmas spice. And once it’s in the mouth, I savor the ripe berry, lively acidity, and full body. It’s a wine made for enjoyment and truly expressive of the Testa Vineyard.
We created Post & Vine to showcase those special small vineyards that make the imagination soar. As a winemaker there are some vineyards that grab a hold of you and won’t let go; Testa Vineyard is one of these. I first worked with Testa fruit in 2003 while working at another winery. It was my first experience with Carignane and it sure made an impression. The gnarly old vines produce few clusters but the concentration, bright blueberry, and soul in the wine captivated me. I connected with the owners and kept up with happenings at the ranch and in 2012 an opportunity to purchase some old vine fruit arose. After nearly ten years of waiting, I knew that this was the perfect opportunity and Post & Vine was born.
My favorite part of being a winemaker is the ability to translate the beauty of a vineyard into wine and to bring a part of that beauty into the lives of others. While I am firmly rooted in science and the scientific method, there is something magical about the transformation of grapes into wine. Especially so when that wine adds joy to the lives of others. Post & Vine wines are about happiness - the happiness Erica and I achieve when we see our dream realized, and the happiness we hope to bring into your lives with each sip.
From our hands to yours, please pour a glass and enjoy!
